About the event
“We’re so focused on quantification; we’ve put so much weight in the basket of science that we’ve let our qualia sensibilities atrophy to a great extent, including our abilities to have these noetic experiences” - Dana Sawyer.
How do we unshackle ourselves from a self-imposed Dark Age?
In the modern West, there’s no clear consensus on how to interpret mystical experiences—whether induced by compounds, meditation, trance, dance, silence, ants...(?) But, among many perspectives, perennialism stands out as one of the most widely misunderstood.
Prof. Dana Sawyer has an exceptional talent for philosophical explanation. He will be saying a few words about his upcoming book, 'The Perennial Philosophy Reloaded: A Guide for the Mystically Inclined', set for release in July, followed by an open Q&A.

We recorded a podcast with Dana a few weeks ago (available on our website) and there was so much more to talk about that we invited him back to do a live session.

Dana is Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies and World Religions at the Maine College of Art and Design and the author of several books, including 'Aldous Huxley: A Biography'—the only biography Laura Huxley claims Aldous himself would have actually liked—and 'Houston Smith: Wisdom Keeper', who was also a close personal friend.
